Are You Proud, John McCain? McCain's New Strategy Incites Violent, Racist Reaction

  Read article by Eric Schmeltzer

Are you proud, John McCain?

This is YOUR campaign. In your quest for power, you threw out your morals, your principle, your past disdain for low-ball gutter smears.

And now we know the reaction it has incited.

Are you proud?

In New Mexico, you asked the crowd, "Who is the real Barack Obama?"

"A terrorist!" a voice in the crowd shot back, clearly getting the message from this weekend, when your running mate falsely said that Barack Obama had "Palled around" with a "terrorist" and "doesn't see America" the same way nice white Americans do.

Are you proud?

Your running mate, twice yesterday, got the reaction that can only be expected when you do everything you can do to peddle lies in an attempt to convince so-called "low information voters" that Barack Obama somehow doesn't fit in with the rest of us, and maybe even condones bombing American institutions.

Palin also told those gathered that Obama doesn't like American soldiers. "He said that our troops in Afghanistan are just, quote, 'air-raiding villages and killing civilians,' " she said, drawing boos from a crowd that had NOT been told Obama was actually appealing for MORE troops in Afghanistan.

Hitting again and again on Bill Ayers and his flimsy connection to Barack Obama, a member of the audience yelled back, "KILL HIM!" Are you proud?

Are you proud of this, Senator McCain?

Because that's not all. Earlier, in Clearwater, in the middle of her screed against the "different" Obama, and the media who dared ask her a question...

At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew.

One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."

"Sit down, boy." To an African American man.

Are you proud, Senator McCain?

No, you cannot control what everyone says, but you sure as hell can set the tone for what they believe is acceptable to say - indeed, what they think you're looking for them to say. And, you've done that.

In just three days of completely false character attacks, you've sent the signal to your supporters that racist, violent hatred against Barack Obama is OK, because "he's not one of us, anyway."

Are you proud?

Thank God that dreaded "mainstream media" that so harassed your running mate with follow-up questions, and is "in the tank" for Obama is so gutless that not one has even mentioned this on TV, thus protecting you and your campaign from having to comment on the hatred on which you're turning up the heat.

Thank God not one television reporter, and only one print reporter dares mention any of this, because then you might have to look at the cameras and tell us the greatest lie you've ever told during this campaign... Yes, I'm proud of this.
